The News
And the good news is...drum roll please...
I'm running a half marathon in March!
I know, probably not as exciting to you as it is to me. But it's even better than that. I'm running a half marathon, in Florida, at Disney World in March! Holy Crap!
Here's how it happened:
- I've been thinking about running a half for a LOOOONG time. In fact I was scheduled to run one in October, but because of the wedding, school and my knee I ended up not being able to do it.
- Yesterday, I got an email from Active which had a link to a First Half Marathon Training Plan. A little spark ignited.
- The plan is 10 weeks long. After doing some computations I determined that I can run the 10k next week, take a week off and do some light training, then start a half plan and be ready to run a half by mid February.
- So I searched Active. Unfortunately, because Michigan is a frozen tundra in February, there were no halfs in Michigan or anywhere close enough to make a weekend trip and not have to miss school to do it.
- So I searched in March. It wouldn't hurt to have longer to train. And I found the Inaugural 2009 Disney's Princess Half Marathon.
- And it's on the first weekend of my spring break!
- And Hubby has been to Disney and has wanted to take me there since we started dating, since he loved it so much!
How perfect is that? Now, I just had to get Hubby to agree. Hubby was working on his computer, when I entered the office, rubbed his back a little, gave him a kiss, and then asked for a favor. "Hubby, can we go to Disney World for Spring Break?" His head snapped up and he practically yelled, "YES!" Haha, that wasn't hard.
We talked about it a bit and he'll only have to take one vacation day at work. I won't miss school or work. I get to run a half. We get to experience Disney together. We get an awesome spring break. Holy crap, I'm so excited!
